Four Lenses for a Clearer Path
The Vision Blueprint
For turning a distant dream into a series of deliberate, daily steps. It helps you see the whole path from today to a decade from now.
How to use it
- Sketch the Future: Write down a vivid, ambitious goal for 10 years from now.
- Work Backward: What must be true in 5 years? 1 year? This quarter? Identify the key milestones.
- Sequence the Milestones: Look for dependencies. What needs to happen first? Arrange the steps in a logical order.
- Identify the First Step: What is the single, tangible action that starts the first milestone?
The Core Four
For making choices that feel right. It aligns what you truly value with what you do, so every decision moves you forward.
How to use it
- Identify Core Values: List your four most important personal or professional values (e.g., Growth, Integrity).
- Score the Decision: When faced with a choice, score it from -2 (conflicts) to 2 (aligns) against each value.
- Follow the Math: A positive total score is a green light. A negative score is a clear indication of a problem.
- Use as a Check-in: Revisit your Core Four quarterly to ensure your actions and goals remain aligned with your overall objectives.
The Energy Grid
For getting things done without burning out. It helps you choose tasks based on your energy and their real impact, turning small wins into lasting change.
How to use it
- Draw a 2x2 Grid: Label the axes "Energy Required" (Low/High) and "Impact Gained" (Low/High).
- Plot Your Tasks: Place your to-do items into the four resulting quadrants.
- Schedule by Energy: Tackle High Energy tasks during your natural peaks (e.g., morning). Use low-energy periods for low-energy tasks.
- Prioritize Smartly: Always aim for High-Impact tasks first, regardless of energy, to make the most progress.
The Noise Filter
For finding wisdom in a world of noise. It offers a simple way to filter information, allowing you to learn what matters and ignore what doesn't.
How to use it
- Is it Actionable?: Can I use this information to make a better decision right now?
- Is it Timeless?: Will this information still be relevant and valuable in a month? A year?
- Is it from a Credible Source?: Does the source have a track record of accuracy and deep knowledge?
- Convert to Action: If information passes the filter, immediately decide on a concrete next step to take based on it.
Leverage: The Art of the Multiplier
The Leverage Audit
For achieving more by doing less. This framework helps you identify which tasks demand your unique value and which can be delegated, automated, or eliminated.
How to use it
- List Your Tasks: Write down all your recurring weekly tasks, personal and professional.
- Apply the "Unique Value" Test: For each task, ask: "Does this uniquely require my specific skills, and is it the highest and best use of my time and resources?" Be brutally honest.
- Categorize and Act: If the answer is no, categorize the task: Can it be Delegated to someone with the right skills? Automated with a tool to save time? Or Eliminated because it's low-impact?
- Focus Your Energy: The few tasks left that meet the "Unique Value" test are your highest leverage points. Invest your best energy there.
Eight Thoughts to Keep in Mind
- (What) To begin, start. The smallest possible action is enough to break inertia.
- (Why) Before looking for a solution, make sure you understand the real problem.
- (How) Build good systems. They carry you toward your goals even when motivation fades.
- (When) Make time for quiet reflection. Insight doesn't shout; it whispers.
- (Who) You are not your own best employee. Learn to be an effective leader in your own life by delegating tasks that don't require your unique genius.
- (How Long) Be patient and persistent. Small efforts, compounded over time, lead to remarkable places.
- (What If) Things will go wrong. A good plan doesn't avoid problems; it anticipates them. Act with urgency because the clock is always ticking.
- (How Often) Review your path weekly. A plan is a living document, not a stone tablet. Regular check-ins are where you adapt, correct course, and notice your progress.
